Introductory Brainstorm Activity: 1. Gather students on the rug and tell them: "At the beginning of the year, we read books about our class being a family. We've been that this year! I have loved being your guide as we've learned together! But now, as we face the end of the year, I realize that you have a new class family to look forward to! Did you know that just like you might be nervous to join a new class, teachers have jitters about that, too!" Let's use what we've learned about being considerate, friendly, and encouraging to introduce ourselves to whoever our new teacher might be." 2. Encourage students to read the words displayed. Read the words together and ask them to choose a word. Students can even do charades to act out the words and give examples of how they've seen that word this year. Ask them to choose a word to describe themselves to their new teacher. 3. Show them how to have a partner take their photo (or do a selfie) and decorate the frame. 4. Encourage them to record a message to their new teachers introducing themselves and sharing about themselves.
